Noblesville, Indiana

Nobelsville, IN

Noblesville, Indiana, tucked picturesquely against the White River in Hamilton County, is regarded by many as the absolute best place to live in Indiana. Earning a score of "A+" by Niche (an extremely rare occurrence for a site that rates the livability of our country's cities), this town has it all: beauty, charm, resources, employment, fantastic entertainment, and some of the loveliest parks in the entire nation. It's smallish, with about 63,000 residents, and just close enough to Indianapolis to enjoy the perks that come with being close to a large city while still savoring the quaintness of small-town life.

If you are spending some time in Noblesville, one thing you absolutely must do is go to jail—the Hamilton County Sheriff's Residence & Jail Museum of History, to be specific. It's a small place, directly downtown, and completely free to visit. It's also brimming with fascinating artifacts to explore, offers some great tours, and is well known for dishing up some very interesting local dirt. This building used to be a real, functional jail and once housed Charles Manson, and it is rumored to be very haunted. Of course, it is now just one of many excellent museums in the area. The Indiana Transportation Museum is a terrific stop and a great place to learn about the huge influence the railroads have had on the town and surrounding region.

Another not-to-be-missed place to check out is Randy's Toy Shop. The trains here are of the wind-up variety, though. Antique and vintage toys are their specialty and, no matter what age you are, this place can wind you up and bring out your inner child. And if antiques are your thing, make sure you also visit the Noblesville Antique Mall for a one-of-a-kind shopping experience.

For lovers of the great outdoors, stop by the White River Canoe Company and do some paddling, or take a relaxing, lazy float ride down the river on a tube. You can visit the spectacular Forest Park for a bike ride or explore the Morse Lake Nature & Wildlife areas. Interestingly, Noblesville has its own White River monsters, akin to the Loch Ness Monster, one of which they call the White River Serpent, and another one they call the Beast of White River. Sightings date back to the late 1800s, but who knows, they could still be out there.

Don't end your day without grabbing a bite to eat at Aspen Creek Grill, a 2021 Traveler's Choice Award winner, or for homier fare, try Rosie's Café, or stop by Famous Dave's Bar-B-Que, a spicy, sticky local favorite. Lastly, cap off your evening with a drink at Sun King Spirits, known for some unusual offerings, including a watermelon ale. Or, you could tip back a few and catch a game at the Star Dust Sports Pub.

If you happen to reside here, you undoubtedly already know what a great place to live Noblesville is, but despite its A+ rating, it suffers from a common problem within the area: It has more than its fair share of pest issues. Luckily, however, there's Bug Off Pest Pros. As the area's A+ rated pest management service, you can count on us to assist you when you have a problem. Just contact us, and we'll take care of those monsters for you. (But be warned—sea serpents are not on our extermination list.)
